If you were....

How's it going yall!!!Hope all is well.I decided to post something before i had the next interview up.So what i did was i asked individuals from bands, record labels and clothing lines a random question. Thanks to all the cool people below for the awesome answers! For those of u reading, leave us a comment and tell us your answers.Have fun reading people!

If u were to have a chance to play in any one of your favorite band/group.Who would it be and why?

"Ignite or Rise Against! They had somehow made an Impact on me and change the way I look at the world today. I must say that their political agenda in regards to social change and global awareness had somehow inspired me".

xEinx of Second Combat
www.myspace.com/secondcombat

"I would love to be in a dance group. But I don't have the moves haha. Well a part from that it would be really great if I could play for bands like New Found Glory & Greenday. It would also be cool if I could be in a hip hop group. I just think that I should try something new for a change".

Jenatun a.k.a Boy of Cassandra
www.myspace.com/cassandra

"I could totally see myself playing guitars for Story Of The Year. I love their music because it's so full of aggression but at the same time melodic and to top it all off I can really relate to their lyrics. Watching their live videos pumps me up and it definitely makes me want to play like them live".

Alex of For Better Endings
www.myspace.com/fbecore

"I think it'd have to be BELLE & SEBASTIAN. I can listen to their songs at any time of the day, so it will never be a bore playing them on stage night after night. Plus they’re the kind of band where the members are kinda replaceable and expandable. A band like G'N'R (original line up).... you can't really just step in there and replace one of them. I think that's how I feel about most of my favorite bands. Each member is so vital.... it'd be weird for me to replace one of them".

Nic of The Lovesong
www.myspace.com/thelovesong

"Gym Class Heroes, cos then I’d be Travis, get to do Katy Perry, be friends with Bring Me The Horizon and sing with Oli Sykes".

Joanna of Prettig Clothing
www.myspace.com/prettigclothing

"I would love to play in 311 and The Cardigans. Those are the two bands that I listened to when I was a teenager and when I was growing up. Their music is totally different from the bands that I am playing in now and personally, I think their songs have these evergreen memories that I would forever remember".

Rashid of The Otherside Orchestra and Quest Of Quasar
www.myspace.com/theothersideorchestra

www.myspace.com/questofquasar

"I would play in Ida cos I’ve never found any other band like them and I’ve had failed attempts at forming one like them. Or Cursive cos Tim Kasher is a song writing god and I would just sit there and sing the words he wrote cos they’re always so damn good".

Dewi Marie of March Twelve
www.myspace.com/marchtwelve

"There’s tons of it. One of it would be Refused. They’re simply one of the most inventive and talented hardcore bands around".

Kevin of Love Me Butch
www.myspace.com/lovemebutch

"Bone Thugs N Harmony yalllll!!! I would be rapping just as fast as them. hahahah. Oh and instead of having chics shaking their booties in our video, ill have my homeboys 2 step and kickbox to some heavy breakdowns. hahaha".

Ady of Restraint
www.myspace.com/restrainthc

"Earth Crisis! They were the biggest influenced hardcore band when I was growing up. Or maybe Caliban cos I’ve been in touch with them since 2000 and yeah they are a great bunch of people.I dont really need to play in any of these bands. Arranging a show for them here in Malaysia and touring SEA with them would probably be the best experience for me.

Caliban - DONE!
EARTH CRISIS - COMING SOON! "

Kids On The Move

Whats up people!Welcome to Intrude Interviews. The first interview that would be featured in here is none other then the band that has gained some recognition in the local hardcore scene especially among the old school hardcore listeners called Kids On The Move.

I had the chance to interview the founder of the band,Dean who originally played guitar in the begining and now sings full time for the band. The interview was done very early in the morning and by the time it ended Dean allready had a headache.(haha).Check the interview out.Enjoy!

Hey Dean how’s it going? Its 3.15 in the morning, why aren’t u asleep?
Dean
: Hey there Jana, I didn’t realize it was 3.15 already. I guess I was too distracted with work.

Yeah guess it happens.Ok tell us about how the band came together?
Dean : Well, not a really big story on how we got together. It all started when me and Kaza were in our last years of high school. We wanted to form an oldschool hc band together since we were so influenced with that particular style and we was into the scene too. We had to find other band members and we had lot of people like Pali (Second Combat’s Drummer) and others who helped along the way. In the end we got Caca who was playing drums for channel x to play for us. Lastly Daus and Lee joined in to fill other positions in the band. They have been our close friends and we wanted to make this band as fun as we could so we thought to ourselves it would be best to have people that we were already close with. Well time passes by and we went through a couple of line up changes along the way. After nearly 5 years of being together the current line up is me, Kaza, Caca and the new ones is Jack and Wan.

Why did u guys choose the name Kids On The Move? Does it have a meaning or something?
Dean : The funny thing is that Kids On The Move was not really our bands name when we first started. We used to be called Division One Champs, It does not have any special meaning. After a few shows, we found out that there was another band with that same name from Japan. We were also recording our first ever release for a compilation at that point of time. So we thought we might as well change the name so people can recognize us better and to avoid confusion. Kids On The Move is originally a tittle for a song we wrote. After discussing about it, the name Kids On The Move surely reflects who and what we are. It kind of made sense for all of us. The meaning and the connection that we have with it surely means more to us personally.

Yeah I totally agree. I think the current band name suits the style of music u guy’s play.Any other names that u guys were thinking of at that point of time?
Dean :
There was a few, but most of the name were jokes that we would laugh too. I can still remember Ein from Second Combat suggested that we use the name Strike Force. On my way back home that same day, I passed through this building and the name "Strike Force" was on it. It was a security company. Haha. Well there's a few names on top my head at the moment but then Kids On The Move is still best for this band.

There is two different versions of your recent split with Backsight. Why is that so?
Dean : Well after hearing to the Europe version of the split we knew that we could have had better quality and outcome of the final product. I guess we were rushing on the deadlines and that affected the quality of the record. The Asian version took sometime to be released so we took that opportunity to alter and repair the tracks. So yeah that’s why u have two versions of the ep.

So u mean to say u guys rerecorded the whole thing again?
Dean : Hahahah. Well nah not all of it. We did rerecord some of it over again, just to get better results of the track. We didn’t want to spent to much time cause we know we could never satisfy ourselves on just one thing.

Haa ok.So tell us what have u guys been up to lately? I heard rumors that u guys are currently in the studio working on some new stuff.True?
Dean : Well, it has been rather slow for the band this couple of months and yeah it’s true that we are in the studio working on a full length album that will have about 12 tracks. We are still writing and haven't record anything definite yet. We want to potray the changes that we've gone through this past 5 years and in the same time we want people to hear the same KOTM element in our songs. I’m so excited with the new songs and I can't wait to record some tracks. I think I’ll post up some pre recorded stuff on myspace once its done.

What can we expect from the upcoming new release? Also any specific date when it would be out?
Dean :
We are trying to use all of our resources to get a more decent record in the sense of quality. I’m quite confident on the writing part, so we have to push more on where to get the money to actually do a good recording. Each member in the band has their own idea and influences on how the band should sound like. Well it’s fine to say that the music is influenced with lots of the rivalry record-ish. Then again that is just my personal opinion. I bet if you ask the rest of the band members, they would definitely give you a different explanation. The good thing is that we manage to find the link between our differences and we are trying to make it something that we can call ours. The record is going to be a lot about things that revolve around us and we think that connects with others as well. For now we can't say that there's a specific date for it to be released. The way how records are release here is still very different. We are still doing things on our own and for now we still don't know which label it with be released on. We are doing this for the love of writing and moving on as band.

Tell us the first few bands that got u into hardcore?
Dean :
For me, i would say that I got into local bands such as Second Combat, Dashown and a lot more local/home based band. It was quite easy for me since everyone around me (mostly my brother's friends) was from the scene. Before I got into the more intense side of hardcore I listened to a lot punk rock bands like Pennywise for instance and softer music like The Get Up Kids. The first song I learnt on guitar and the first song that got me hooked into hardcore was by Vitamin X called The First Step. I got the song on a blue discography cassette. There is a lot of band's that I for instance Ten Yard Fight, Bane and the list would go on forever. It’s just natural to be influenced or moved by this kind of bands.

Yeah I have that Vitamin X discography as well and yes, The Get Up Kids and Bane rules too. Name us one favorite song from The Get Up Kids and Bane.
Dean : Its unfair to just name one song. Haha .So I would name 2.

(hahaha) go ahead man.
Dean : My most favorite song The Get Up Kids is 'Action and Action' and 'I’m A Loner, A Dottie, A Rebel' and as for Bane I would say 'Can We Start Again' and 'Superhero'.

Ok you’re probably the only one in the band that has the most groupies. How do u handle them? I heard some of them stalks u as well.
Dean : Hahahaa no man. There’s no case of stalkers. I wouldn't say that we have groupies either, let alone me. I actually find it hard to just go around talking to girls hahaha. Oh but I did hear some rumors about a few girls liking me for me being in the band. hahaha. It’s not my kinda stuff. I would be better of with someone who likes me for who I am. I know it sucks man but that’s just who I am. hahaha.

(hahahaha). Oh cmmon whats wrong in giving them a chance. You never know there might be a few who likes u for who u are.
Dean : Well, I didn’t say that I would reject someone just like that. I can't tell what will happen in the future. If there's something coming that way. Why not? Hahaha . We are getting sidetracked here. hahaa.

(hahah). Ok moving on to the next question. If u were not a sXe kid would u be smoking, drinking, doing drugs or sleeping around? (hahah)
Dean : Even if I didn’t know what straight edge is, I don’t think I would be smoking, drinking, doing drugs or sleeping around. It’s unnatural for me, haha. I am just that kind of person and I think of myself rather lucky to be that way.

What do u think of the hardcore scene here in Malaysia?
Dean : The hardcore scene here is constantly growing. You still have the old band’s around and you got new talented bands as well. Even though it’s not as big as how it is in the US but then again the scene is still pretty good. Well do check new bands such as Burnout!, Mouthful Of Air and some older bands that had been around for quite some time such as Eleven, Restraint and a lot more.

What about your comment’s on statements such as Corporate Hardcore?
Dean :
That is something rather familiar. Some people are coming up with statements blindly. As far as I know, we are not sponsored by big brands and we do not demand thousands of ringgit payment for a show. Some people are throwing comments without even looking into the mirror first.

If u were to be a superhero character who would u be and why?
Dean : I would want to be spiderman. He always did his best on helping others and never expected anyone to payback his deeds. He sacrificed a lot of stuff and he’s not selfish. Yes I would be spiderman. But then again he is a sellout who decided to go to Hollywood hahaha.

Ali was walking in the jungle all by himself.Suddenly he…… (complete the story in your own words. Not more then 50 words)
Dean : ….. heard a crackling sound from behind. He looked back but saw no one. He kept walking, and then he heard footsteps nearing him. Afraid, he ran. The sound kept getting nearer. All of a sudden his phone started ringing. He was surprised as he was deep in the jungle and there's no any way he could get coverage. He picked up the phone and it was his friend asking him "Dude when are we meeting up?". Confused and dazed he looks behind him again, It was that yellow DIGI guy standing behind him. No wonder his phone still had coverage.
hahahaa sorry if its lame, and I don’t know how many words I’ve used.

(hahaha). That’s one interesting story. So what would your current playlist be?

Go It Alone- Relics
Allegiance - Out Of My Blood
Miles Away - Affidavit
City & Colors - Forgive Me
Envy - Chain Wondering Deeply
Modern Life Is War - Stagger Lee
Verse - Weather To A Stone
Set Your Goals - To Be Continued

Dean : There’s just too many. So this is the few songs that’s currently in my head.

Is there anything you'd like to say, shout outs dedication before we end this interview?
Dean : Well thanks a lot for this opportunity. It’s very early in the morning and I’m having a headache. It was still a pleasure doing this interview with you. For everyone out there stay positive and believe in yourselves, be sure to go check our myspace for updates regarding the new record. We got lots of plans installed and I sincerely hope I get to see all of u real soon. Thanks again and good morning.

Thank you very much for your precious time Dean. We really appreciate your support.
